April Reflection

Movie: Onward (2020)
Pixar’s newest film teaches the life lesson of cherishing one’s roots. Although history is in the past, it is never truly gone. History continues to impact us today and although someone or something may be physically gone, their legacy carries on through us. It’s important to keep moving forward, but it’s even more important to never lose sight of where we came from.
Podcast: Gals on the Go
This podcast hosted by two young female YouTube influencers has always been my go-to podcast for advice and inspiration. However, during the quarantine their episodes have become more important to listen to than ever. Whenever I listen to a new episode, I am reminded to stay positive and keep grinding when the going gets tough. Everyone, even these “gals on the go,” are experiencing set-backs, but it’s important to look on the bright side and keep doing your best.
TV Show: Little Fires Everywhere (2020)
This new Hulu mini-series is based off of the 2017 novel by Celeste Ng and was the perfect pastime for my family during this quarantine. It teaches the important lesson that everybody has a story that they share, but also a story that they prefer to keep tucked away. Although there are only 8 episodes in the entire series, each episode grabs your attention with its endless thrills and suspense. After finishing the series, I am left remembering the importance of never judging a book by its cover.
Memory: Marquette Mentors Program Finale
Being a two-time mentee and two-year marketing intern for Marquette Mentors has been one of the most meaningful experiences throughout my college career. Seeing 150 of the 300 alumni mentors, student mentees, campus partners and mentee alumni I’ve had the honor of working with come together over a Zoom video call in support of Marquette’s students made me proud to be a Golden Eagle.

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking through my first monthly reflection! You can expect a reflection on the 1st of each month to take a deeper dive into getting to know the story of me, Kathryn McCarthy, and hopefully inspire you to reflect on your own unique story, as well.
Sending well wishes to you during this time — We will get through this together.
