Clean Beauty Boutique

Spring 2021 - Present

Work opportunities can really come about from anything! I started going to a new up-and-coming hair boutique, Clean Beauty Boutique, and made great conversation with my hairstylist. We talked about normal introductory things — myself, my family, my friends & my work. I must have sold myself without realizing it because, after that appointment, I received an email from the boutique’s owner asking me to be their blog writer. As a young professional always looking for opportunities to grow, I enthusiastically accepted!

Did I know anything about hair? No. Did I know everything about the boutique after just one visit? No. Yet, I was excited and eager to learn.

On the first of every month, a new blog I write is posted on their official website. Since I value brands authentically connecting with their audiences, I focus my stories on interconnecting the boutique with their clients. From confidence advice from the boutique’s hairstylists to introducing the new stylists, I love that I can share more of a personable, welcoming side of the boutique to their clients.

Fall 2017 - Present

Early in my college career, knowledge of my work started to spread to the general public. This resulted in a few requests to design content & use my digital media skills for a variety of causes.

Starting small with helping outside organization’s flyer designs to fun Snapchat filters to interact with guests at events, I realized how strong my creativity truly is.

With COVID-19 making the world stop, it gave me extra time to grow in my creative capabilities. I began to volunteer as a Mass livestream videographer for my hometown parish, St. Catherine of Alexandria. After hearing that the previous videographer had to step down and listening to my fellow parishioners communicate that they wanted Mass back with the Easter holiday approaching, I took up the role. This is not only a creative opportunity to continue exercising my camera-operating and social media skills, but knowing that I am bringing the community back together during this tough time is the “cherry on top.” Being able to successfully bridge the gap between brand and audience is what I believe being a great communications professional is all about.

Aside from volunteering for my parish in the mornings, I create flat illustrations designs for customers! How it started was this — Within minutes of submitting my very last college final, I immediately sprung into exercising some design skills on Adobe Illustrator before I lost my free student Adobe account. After sharing my very first flat illustration project on my Instagram story, I started receiving dozens of requests to make these illustrations for people to purchase. As someone who appreciates when brands connect personally with their audience, it’s been an honor to personally connect with my audience by letting me tell the beautiful story behind their photos with my art.

Some customers reached out to me for branding help with their small businesses. A local soy candle maker & fitness instructor based in Ireland were ready to take their brands to the next level & wanted an official logo that aligned with their aesthetic. I loved brainstorming logos with these entrepreneurs & was able to successfully bring their brands to life!

This goes to show that I will truly never stop learning new skills.

Marquette University

Fall 2016 - Spring 2020

Finally, here is the place where it all began. Being a digital media minor, I have gained script writing, producing, directing, camera-operating, acting, podcasting and editing experience. Also in the classroom, I have gained a sense of software, including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition and Adobe Illustrator. Through these softwares, I have created logos, fun graphics, Snapchat filters, newsletter covers, podcast episodes and style guides.

However, my most impactful experience during my time at school would have to be my leadership within my extracurriculars, specifically with the Marquette Panhellenic Association. From administering and creating written and visual content for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, as well as physical public relations to hand out and wear throughout our campus, I realized that I loved creating content that people can engage with and positively brand ourselves. Managing multiple organizational social media accounts taught me the importance of content scheduling and using the unique functions provided within each social media platform to further engage with my audience. Also, I gained experience in designing physical public relations, such as handouts and t-shirts.
